She cries inside when she hears a man
yell, “I just RAPED you!” when he wins
a video game. No one knows what happened
to her when she was just seven years old, she
grew in a thrust that night, because a piece of her
womanhood was taken at an early age.
It’s ten years later and she still shakes
when someone touches her skin. But,
she won’t tell, she keeps it within.

He bites his lips, fighting back tears,
as his friend says, “Guys who are raped,
are just too weak to fight back.”
So he should never tell a single soul,
what happened when his dad was
drunk that night, and he was too
small and scared to win the fight.

They will make up the excuses that
she was “drunk!” and “Did you see what
she was wearing? Her ass was hanging
out, she was asking for it!” They will say,
“boys will be boys.” And the word rape will
be used in society to describe the
dominance of winning someone
in a game of Call of Duty. If you tell me
there’s no Rape Culture, then tell me
why victims are too afraid to speak
up?

i.c. "He told me there was no Rape Culture."  (via delicatepoetry)

A man came to our class once,
he claimed to be a fair judge
with daughters he loved.

He asked a question to the class:
“When should a minor be tried
as an adult?”
and students began raising their hand

“murder”
he wrote it up on the board.

“robbery”
he wrote it up on the board.

I said, “Rape”
and he paused, he asked
for clarification

“You mean violent rape?”

“no I mean rape.
It is all the same.”

he looked to a boy
who said “rape only if
he used a weapon and
hurt her.”

and I said, “rape is rape,
whether his weapon is a knife,
drugs, or guilt. She said no.”

he shook his head,
and wrote
“Violent rape” on the board
anyways.

I never understood,
because you can kill somebody
quietly and peacefully with drugs,
or with guns and knives or cars;
but nobody cares if the murder was “violent”

it was still murder.

7/11 breathing. A skill to use for anxiety. It’s recommended to do it for 10-15 minutes. Like any other skill it does require a lot of practice. I advice that you practice it when you are feeling calm so you are ready in a time of need. If you lose count, which is easily done, simply start again until you do 15 minutes. It will also help with distraction even if you don’t get it right the first hundred times.
